May the 4th… or not.

In tonight’s episode of Devs Gone Wild…

Cisco just released CSCvj32935 to address an urgent issue where numerous customers reported R2-D2 appearing on their screen on the 4th of May this year.

Apparently, “internal test code” leaked into production builds, causing the Star Wars character to magically appear and roll across the screen of several phone models in the more recent CE 9.x firmware train, affecting both on-prem and cloud devices.  Naturally, several security-conscious customers (read: killjoys) took issue…

 

Amazing.  Would have paid good money to be in that internal engineering team mgmt meeting! :O
